The Good Stuff Goes on Top.

Finished another collage Tuesday. I cut negative media messages out of magazines, pasted it down. Covered it with tissue paper –the photo doesn’t show an accurate representation of what it looks like- and pasted the good stuff on top.

Stamp it out!

R- Blog Stuff 022

I made a stamp. Those are my initials, and that is a pink eraser. I used a round button-hole cutter. Like this! The cutter scooped out the eraser really well compared to the official linoleum cutter I used in art class. For only a one time project I didn’t want to buy all materials, I used what I had. I might do another one, either on the back or on a different eraser. I didn’t plan this out and it didn’t fit well on the eraser. A very satisfying project.

Lots of Modge Podge

R- Blog Stuff 020

Finished this recently. I love all the colors and textures, but it’s really hard to read. The quote reads:

We do not remember days; we remember moments. –Cesare Pavese

It was really fun and really messy to make. Not only did I cut up an issue of Better Homes and Gardens, I used tickets, tissues, paint chips, lined paper, newspaper, duct tape, fabric, string, and the like. And lots of glue and modge podge. But even with all that sticky stuff, I still need to cover the thing in a clear layer. Any suggestions?

3 Inches Shorter

There was a moving sale in my neighborhood done by a family whom I’ve known since elementary school. There was a lot of vintage fabrics and clothes. The woman priced things based on the prices she could get on Ebay, so they were more expensive than normal garage sale prices. This skirt was 2 dollars and in need of alterations. I also wanted to get a large chunk of rose-colored fabric. But it was 40 dollars. No way. Back to the skirt; I sewed on a button and hemmed it 3 inches and VIOLA!This is now my favorite skirt ever. It can look vintage, it can look modern, it can look formal, it can look casual. No matter what though, it’s always comfortable. And at the end of the day the family came and gave me the chunk of fabric for free because it hadn’t sold. I’ve got very exciting plans for it. Can you say, another skirt?
